Summit County’s Adult Protective Services (APS) primary role is to investigate reports of abuse, neglect, or exploitation of older adults (aged 60 years or older) in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code 5101:2-25.
This includes but is not limited to assessing the safety and risk of the adult, protecting the adult’s interest, coordinate efforts with local authorities and to connect the adult with community resources to remedy the situation. An assessment is conducted by APS Investigators after receiving a report alleging abuse, neglect, and exploitation of an elder 60 years of age or older.
In Summit County, Title XX Social Services are provided through a collaborative effort with community organizations to ensure that older adults have access to services that assist the individual in becoming stable and allows them to remain independent for as long as they can.
