About Outreach Services

Beginning September 1, 2026, Summit County Department of Job and Family Services will temporarily suspend outreach services at several community locations. Outreach services will continue at five locations across Summit County.

This temporary change will allow SCDJFS case managers to focus on increased customer service and administrative needs while the agency works to stabilize staffing and operations.

Limited Outreach Services Will Continue

SCDJFS case managers will continue providing services at select partner locations after September 1, 2026. These locations serve only the clients or patients of the participating organization and are not available as general public walk-in outreach sites.

Continuing partner locations include:

  • Community Health Center (CHC)
  • Community Support Services (CSS)
  • Oriana House
  • Summa Health System – Akron Campus
  • Summa Health System – Barberton Campus

Residents who are not already receiving services through one of these organizations should contact SCDJFS directly for assistance.

Services Available at Outreach Locations

At an active outreach site, SCDJFS staff can assist with services such as:

  • Applying for or renewing cash assistance through Ohio Works First (OWF), food assistance through SNAP, or healthcare coverage through Medicaid.
  • Answering questions about your case, benefits or eligibility.
  • Scanning and submitting documents and verifications.
  • Making copies of documents needed for your case.
  • Reviewing benefit issuance information.
  • Connecting you with additional SCDJFS programs, employment services and community resources.

  • Akron Children’s Hospital
  • Akron-Summit County Public Library locations
