The Pregnancy-related Services (PRS) program is a package of services available to all pregnant women who receive Medicaid. PRS helps pregnant mothers schedule and keep their doctor appointments and offers individual counseling and group education classes in Lamaze, parenting, child care, and nutrition.
PRS also makes referrals to other assistance programs, including Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), which provides food and nutritional education to pregnant women, mothers, and children under the age of five.
Healthchek, Ohio’s Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, and Treatment (EPSDT) program, provides a group of services to children and teens under the age of 21. The purpose of Healthchek is to discover and treat health problems early. All Healthchek services are free and include the following:
• dental checks
• developmental screenings
• hearing checks
• immunizations, if needed
• mental health screenings
• nutrition screenings
• physical check-ups
• vision checks
To apply for PRS or Healthchek, you must complete the Request for Cash, Food, and Medical Assistance application and either submit it online, fax it to 1.866.351.8292 (toll free), mail it to 1180 S. Main Street, Suite 102, Akron, OH 44301-1256, or bring it in.
